The Hart House Student Art Committee invites University of Toronto students, staff, faculty, and community members who own small businesses to apply as vendors for our Winter Arts & Crafts Market. We welcome handmade goods such as art & crafts, art prints, clothing, jewellery, and more! Please note that edible goods are not permitted for sale at this time.

Please be aware that this year, students participating in the market will need to pay a vendor fee of $22 to support the fundraising efforts of the Art Committee. Refunds will only be issued if notice is given at least 7 days prior to the market. The proceeds from this event will contribute to the budget of the Hart House Art Committee.

Vendors are responsible for managing their own transactions during the market.

 

Date and time: December 2nd, 2026 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm (Vendors must arrive at the Great Hall between 10:30 and 11:30 am to ensure the market starts on time. Early arrivals must be requested and approved prior to the event date.)

Selection Criteria

The Hart House Student Art Committee aims to provide the university community with the opportunity to view and purchase a diverse range of handmade goods, including art, photography, clothing, and stationery. In the evaluation process, vendors will be assessed based on the presentation of their businesses and the variety of products they offer. As such, applicants will NOT be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. We welcome applications from all types of businesses selling a wide array of products.

Due to the large number of applicants for our previous art markets, we kindly ask all applicants to adhere to the submission deadline to ensure fairness and respect for everyone involved. While we wish we could accommodate all vendor applicants, we appreciate your understanding if you are not selected for the market. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted a few days before the market in the event of any cancellations.

Former vendors may reapply but will not receive special priority. They will be valued equally among all other applicants.

Insurance

Hart House does not provide insurance coverage for goods, artwork, merchandise, equipment, or other property brought to the market by vendors. Vendors who wish to insure their property are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their own insurance coverage. This may include coverage during transportation to and from Hart House, set-up and take-down, storage, and throughout the duration of the event.

By participating in the market, vendors acknowledge that they do so at their own risk. Hart House, the University of Toronto, the Hart House Student Art Committee, and their staff, volunteers, and representatives shall not be liable for any loss, theft, damage, or destruction of a vendor’s property for any reason.

Vendors agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hart House, the University of Toronto, and their representatives from any claims, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from their participation in the market, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or product-related claims. Vendors are also responsible for any damage caused to Hart House facilities, furnishings, equipment, or other property as a result of their participation in the event.

Code of Conduct

Vendor submissions must not contain any elements that infringe upon the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party. This includes submitting work that you did not create yourself or that copies someone else's work. The University of Toronto's Code of Conduct and the Hart House Statement of Community Commitments apply to all academic and non-academic activities and programs involving community members. By submitting this application, you agree to provide your own original work and comply with the guidelines outlined above.
