HHArtC New York Trip
October 2024
After the Hart House Art Committee's successful art research excursion to Montreal in 2023, the executives headed to New York City in October 2024. During a four-day visit, they explored galleries, museums, and numerous exhibitions in Manhattan to learn about art practices, the art scene, and learn from local artists. The trips mission aligned with Hart House's mission to offer students with a dynamic, inclusive centre for exploration and discovered that is focused around the arts and dialogue. The executives were given an a learning opportunity to better understand themselves, one another, and the world we share.

Over the course of the trip, the executives visited over 15 galleries and museums including large spaces such as The MET, the Guggenheim, The MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art but also a number of galleries in Chelsea, Harlem, and the Upper East Side. Beyond strengthening the committees teamwork while gaining comprehensive insights to the New York art scene, the committee also established connections with artists and gallery owners which will aid the Art Committee's mission in acquiring artworks with the collaboration of Hart House and offering exceptional art opportunities to UofT students.
Explore below our executive member's testimonials on the exhibitions they explored and artists they got to meet! The executive team thanks Hart House and the committee's staff advisor Saša Rajsic, without whom this life changing opportunity would not have been possible.
